Drive Backup
There are  monthly internet backup services, or you may want to check with your web hosting site - many have almost unlimited storage for as little as $5.95 a month - so for $70 a year you can hosts several web sites using redirects as well as store important computer files in protected directories

I like to make a image backup of my entire hard drive  C: (I use Acronis) and store it on a removable drive. I get the C: drive as clean as possible (basically programs only - very little data files - and I Reg Clean and Defrag before making the image backup.

I also install just the basic XP on my 2nd drive.  It doesn't take up that much space, and if something happens to the root drive, I can boot to the 2nd drive and many times that wil fix the root drive.

Tape Storage
If you haven't switched out to digital media storage, you might want to start.  I like to buy 500 gig to  1.5 terabyte external drives that can be connected via firewire.  They are relatively inexpensive, can be connected with an inexpensive firewire or usb connector, and you can store a lot of files on one drive.  Just be sure to create an indexed file (I use front page and Excel and load it my web site so I have a backup.  Allows you to search and find material.
