Control Key Changes in MC - Forum |
| |
|
| |
A quick observation: If you loved
Liquid's media management, you won't like MC's - even though they are not
that different. Both use BINS, but you can not tell MC to use a
certain folder or directory for media - it always will use \Avid MediaFiles\MXF
to place EVERYTHING - rendered files, media files, etc.
So instead of going to the render folder and deleting out the
projects rendered files - you have to use MC's Media Manager
And when you think you should be able to right click on a
bin and choose "rename" or "delete" - you won't find those standard and
expected options. Not that you can't rename them or delete them -
focus on the bin and hit the delete key - or retype the name.
And Timeline settings - no chance of using one setting for
one timeline and another setting for a second timeline. Settings are
project oriented - so if you want a
When you import a clip- it automatically gets converted to
the project settings - guess this is good - but not quite sure
And close a bin with a sequence in it - and the timeline
closes. How annoying

SUPERBINS: I just wanted to say that
if you are new to MC and haven't tried the superbins - go for it, cause it
is very cool. You basically can have your project window open and then with
one click, pop whatever other bin(s) you organized your Bins in - say
"Sequence" and "Video" and "Titles" and "Graphics" - you know, whatever bins
you used to create in Liquid, you do the same in MC5.... but the superbins
allow you to pop those bins up in a window withi adjustable boundaries
within the project window. Now that is cool.
Actually better than Liquid - because of the "adjustable windows" that can
be locked to the project window. Need a little bigger area to see what's
there - boom, MC does it. And remembers it. If you don't know it, I think
it is a great thing to know about and use. Of course - that's just me...
superbins have probably been around for a while - so I am sure if you are
seasoned you know how great they are.

SYNCING MARKERS in SECONDS:
I sure miss being able to grab a clip's marker and drag/snapping it to
another marker. I could sync 2 camera clips really fast by finding an audio
sync point via wave form, marking it on each clip, then grabing the marker
and sliding the clip until the two marks snapped togeather. Very quick. |

OK, I think I see what the issue is. Using z and x along
with marking clips or regions and then cutting and pasting is a function of
the standard edit mode. When in that mode, CTRL + v always
performs an insert edit. The smart tool is used in conjunction with the
segment edit mode. But still, I'm trying to get a handle on
whether the smart tool is enabling itself after the user has deliberately
disabled it. |

In source / record monitor, CTRL + I gives you info
about the clip. To close out that info box, you have to go to the
mouse and either click somewhere else, or click on the X in the window. |

MC5 is introducing a lot more FCP-like features for
manipulating the timeline (link selection, dynamic cursor in segment mode) |
| |
|

the Close Gap feature in FCP is one of my faves |

I loved the delete clip after/before playline huge benefit. |

being able to turn off any video track - not
just those in a hierarchy order
Larry - You can "solo" any individual video track by CTRL clicking the
monitor icon. It will turn green and display ONLY the contents of that track
layer. Unfortunately, you can only solo one video track layer at a time.
