Digital Recorders

They say a good videographer should not be without a good digital recorder.  I use mine for audio backup - and it sometimes turns into the audio track due to noises around the cameras.  Great for hooking into audio systems and freeing up connections to your camera.

Mine - Zoom H4 Handy Recorder  - I paid $259 for mine from  Amazon in June 2008- has great reviews - plus XLR and 1/4" connections, a great stereo bulit-in microphone microphone

Edirol R09HR High Resolution Wave and MP3 Recorder  $399  - EDIROL by  Roland ( R-09 24 bit WAVE / MP3 RECORDER (Steve Cormey has this one) - $359

Zoom H2 Portable 2-Track SD Recorder - Seen these for $199 - somewhat comparable to the H4 - except no XLR's.

M-Audio Microtrack II 24/96 Portable Handheld Recorder

IRIVER & Giant Squid... Someone from the CoPVA wrote

" I second Jerry's suggestion of the iRiver (recorder) and Giant Squid (mic to go along with it).  We use both and get good results.  Cheaper too compared to the Zoom and others.

There are several entries in the small digital recorder market - Zoom, Edirol, M-Audio.  Any one of these" would work fine for event work.  We use these as well (we have an M-Audio)."

You can find these on Ebay.  Just add a Gigantic Squid mic (find these online as well). T
